Yerevan Needs Various Tree Species as Nearly Half Have Lost Viability, Says Begoyan
“Yerevan needs various tree species as nearly half have lost their viability,” stated Armen Begoyan, director of the Greenery and Environmental Protection Non-Governmental Organization, during today’s session of the operational council of the Yerevan City Hall.
According to him, about 90% of the necessary tree species will be grown by nursery enterprises. “It is essential to continuously change the trees over the next 10 years. The cost of the acquired trees, if recalculated into euros, is approximately around 150-200 euros. Under conditions of 10-30 euros acquisition and 2-3 years of growth, the trees will cost half as much for the city of Yerevan,” said Begoyan.
