Gagik Melkonyan Only Learned Yesterday That a Terrorist Plot Was Organized Against Him

The Investigative Committee informs that incidents of terrorism have been uncovered, aimed at the ruling "Civil Contract" party, its members, including faction representatives Gagik Melkonyan and Gurgen Arsenyan.

In particular, according to the committee, citizen G.S. organized a terrorist act against MP Gagik Melkonyan to intimidate the population and disrupt the functioning of government bodies, intending to keep him from making specific political statements and positions. However, the law enforcement agency did not specify which statements they are referring to.

Gagik Melkonyan only learned yesterday that a terrorist act had been organized against him, and that he had been the target of an explosive device thrown in the yard of a neighbor's house last month. "No, I did not know that I was the target. Just the other day, when I found out that they had been arrested, they had already testified that they confused the house and threw it in another place instead of our yard," Melkonyan told Azatutyun.

The ruling MP believes that Russian-backed forces are behind the terrorism against him: "Since the November 9, 2020, they started the fight against the CP, the opposition, the 5th column, Russian agents, who, let's say, want regime change, and immediately after the regime change, those who are pro-Russian will come and everything will go on like hasty oil."
