VIDEO: Over 150,000 People Participate in Rally Organized for Russian Presidential Elections

A mass rally has taken place in Grozny in connection with the Russian presidential elections, initiated by Chechnya’s leader and Deputy Head of Government Khadija Kadyrova. According to authorities, more than 150,000 people participated in the event, as reported by TASS.

Residents from all corners of the republic gathered in the capital and marched from 'Minutka' square to the central square of Grozny. They held banners calling for participation in the Russian presidential elections. Due to the large flow of people, several streets in the Chechen capital were closed, according to TASS reporters on the scene.

The rally concluded with a concert and speeches from representatives of the public, clergy, and authorities, led by the elder children of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

“We have gathered here at the call of the esteemed Khadija Ramzanovna. Almost all residents of the Chechen Republic’s settlements, cities, and districts are participating here today, including representatives of all types, cultures, religions, and nationalities. Our march reflects that we are one united team for our first president, Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov,” said Ahmad Dudayev, the regional minister of national policy, foreign relations, press, and information, during his speech.

The candidates competing for the presidency include Vladislav Davankov of the “New People” party, Vladimir Putin (self-nominated), Leonid Slutskin of the Liberal Democratic Party, and Nikolai Kharitonov of the CPRF. The Federation Council has scheduled the elections for March 17, 2024. The Russian Central Election Commission has decided that voting will continue on March 15, 16, and 17, making it the first three-day presidential election in Russia. For the first time, remote electronic voting will also be conducted in the election.
