Sweden Promises to Uphold NATO Values and Share Responsibilities: Swedish Prime Minister
Sweden has officially become a member of NATO and promises to uphold the alliance's values and share responsibilities. This was announced by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, as reported by РИА Новости.
“Sweden is now a member of NATO. Thank you all, allies, for welcoming us as the 32nd member. We will strive for unity, solidarity, and shared responsibility, while respecting the values of the Washington Treaty,” he stated on social media platform X.
He also announced that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has sent an official invitation to Sweden to join the North Atlantic alliance.
Earlier, the U.S. State Department announced that the ratification of Sweden's membership in NATO has taken effect.
