Armenian Government Severing Ties with Russia; Future of Gyumri Military Base in Question - Zatulin
The Armenian government is conspicuously severing ties with Russia. This was stated by Konstantin Zatulin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's Committee on the Commonwealth of Independent States, to RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Secretary of Armenia's Security Council Armen Grigoryan announced that Yerevan has informed Moscow of its intention to conduct border control without Russian border guards at the Zvartnots International Airport.
“The Armenian government is showing a deliberate severance of ties with Russia, seeking for reasons, one step follows another, which corresponds with their political agenda. I believe that this will not be limited to Zvartnots. Whatever they say now, they are gradually implementing what we warned about—this is leaving the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) and then the question of the existence of the military base in Gyumri will be raised,” Zatulin said.
