Defense Chief Comments on Border Buildup Reports
Defense Chief Edward Asryan assessed the operational situation at the border as relatively stable. He denied reports of troop buildups, stating, “The Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia are closely monitoring the movements of the adversary, and there are no buildups as you have presented.”
He assured that the Armenian Armed Forces are fulfilling their assigned tasks at the front line. Asryan also addressed discussions about withdrawing from the CSTO, saying, “We have not yet withdrawn from the CSTO, and what the consequences of leaving the CSTO will be remains a secret.”
When asked about joint structures with the CSTO within the army, he noted, “There are joint structures in the army only on paper.”
