Georgy Papoyan Resigns from Parliamentary Mandate
Member of the NA 'Civil Contract' faction and Chairman of the Financial and Budgetary Affairs Committee Georgy Papoyan has resigned from his mandate. He announced this during a press briefing with journalists in the National Assembly today.
'Today, the speaker of the National Assembly will make the corresponding announcement, after which there is a 7-day period. After that, once I have officially resigned my mandate, it will be possible to make the appointment,' said Papoyan.
It is noteworthy that since February 14, when Vahan Kerobyan was dismissed from the position of Minister of Economy, Papoyan's name has been circulating in the media. However, after a meeting lasting more than four hours at the Government of Armenia on February 15, Papoyan told Sputnik Armenia that he had not been offered the position of Minister of Economy.
However, on February 24, it became known that the Board of the 'Civil Contract' party approved that member of the National Assembly Georgy Papoyan would be appointed as the Minister of Economy of Armenia.
