Russian Second A-50 Reconnaissance Aircraft Shot Down, All Crew Members Killed
Another Russian A-50 reconnaissance aircraft has been shot down in the Black Sea region. This was reported by pro-war blogger Vladimir Romanov. He claims that the aircraft was struck by a missile fired from the Mariupol area.
Romanov suggests that the strike may have been a result of what is referred to as 'friendly fire' — a military term for friendly forces inadvertently causing damage to their own troops.
According to another theory, the A-50 was hit over the Krasnodar region. The Ukrainian publication Liga.net, citing sources within the 'security and defense forces', reports that the A-50 was downed as part of a 'joint operation of reconnaissance and air force command.'
All 10 members aboard the downed A-50 have been confirmed dead. Among them are 5 majors, 3 captains, a flag officer, and a lieutenant.
