Over 500 Sanctions from the U.S. Against Russia
U.S. President Joe Biden has confirmed that the United States is imposing more than 500 sanctions against Russia due to events in Ukraine and the death of Alexei Navalny. This information was reported by the White House website. TASS conveys the information.
“Today I am announcing more than 500 new sanctions against Russia related to the war in Ukraine and the death of Alexei Navalny. These sanctions will target those individuals associated with Navalny's imprisonment, as well as Russia's financial sector, defense-industrial base, procurement networks and those individuals who evade sanctions across multiple continents,” Biden's statement reads.
“We are also introducing new export restrictions against nearly 100 organizations for providing hidden support to the Russian military. We are taking measures to further reduce Russia's revenues from energy resources. And I have directed my team to strengthen support for civil society, independent media, and those who are fighting for democracy worldwide,” Biden stated.
