Violators of Orders Will Be Held Accountable: RA Military Police on Border Incident in Kapan
Information disseminated by Azerbaijani media regarding gunfire opened by Armenian border guards on February 12, at the Kapan-Zangelan section of the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border is under investigation. This was reported by the Armenian Ministry of Defense's Military Police.
“The circumstances under which a serviceman may and/or is obligated to make a decision to open fire are clearly defined by written orders from higher command,” the Ministry of Defense's statement said. According to preliminary information from the Ministry of Defense, there was no such situation in the area on February 12.
The defense ministry notes that if this circumstance is confirmed, those responsible for violating the orders will be held accountable. Earlier, Azerbaijani media reported that a border guard was injured as a result of gunfire from Armenian territory.
