Saudi Arabia Calls for UN Security Council Meeting Over Rafah Situation
Saudi Arabia has called for a meeting of the UN Security Council in response to the potential military actions of the Israel Defense Forces in the city of Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip. This was announced by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry emphasized that the country is warning about the impending attack on Rafah and its serious consequences, as it is the last refuge for internally displaced Palestinians.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscores the urgent need for a convening of the UN Security Council to prevent a humanitarian disaster created by Israel,” the ministry's statement quotes RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israeli troops have received directives from the country's authorities to prepare for the start of fighting in the city of Rafah, located at the border with Egypt in the Gaza Strip.
