On February 7, Azerbaijan Will Hold a Non-Alternative Vote: Report
It can be said that on February 7, Azerbaijan will conduct a non-alternative vote. All state institutions are mobilized to ensure a high turnout rate. This was reported by the Azerbaijani Center for Election Monitoring and Democracy Education, according to Infoteka24.
The center has published an interim observation report from the first phase of the pre-election campaign, highlighting the absence of political alternatives, which deprives the citizens of Azerbaijan of the opportunity to make a choice.
The center notes that the current leader of the country did not participate in the organized televised debates, having been represented by a member of the ruling party.
"The formal opponents of the incumbent president did not present their vision for the country's development and voiced no critical opinions regarding the government. Five of the six formal opponents have previously participated in presidential elections but have not achieved significant results. It can be said that on February 7, Azerbaijan will hold a non-alternative vote. All state institutions are mobilized to ensure a high turnout rate. Some experts, however, do not rule out that the CEC may allocate percentages to each 'competitor' to make everything appear as democratic as possible," the center states.
