EU Approves €50 Billion Aid for Ukraine
The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced that the leaders of the 27 EU member states have approved a €50 billion aid program for Ukraine through the EU budget. Michel stated, “Stable, predictable, and long-term funding for Ukraine.”
“The EU is taking the lead and responsibility in supporting Ukraine. We know the cost of the situation,” Michel noted.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude for this decision on X. “I thank Charles Michel and the EU leaders for allocating €50 billion to Ukraine for 2024-2027. It is very important that the decision was made by all 27 leaders, which once again proves the strong unity of the EU. The EU's ongoing financial support for Ukraine will strengthen long-term economic and financial stability, which is no less important than military assistance and the pressure of sanctions against Russia,” Zelensky wrote.
