Injured Doctor Provides Aid to Newborn Following "Murazyan" Ambulance Accident
Today, on January 28, a major car accident occurred in the Kotayk Province. Around 19:10, on the section of the Yerevan-Sevan highway leading to the city of Hrazdan, near Hay Fidainner Street and adjacent to a speed camera, a collision occurred between a Toyota Corolla and a Honda CRV.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, four individuals with varying degrees of bodily injuries were transported to the Hrazdan Medical Center. The injured were first assisted by citizens and the emergency medical teams that promptly arrived from the Hrazdan Medical Center.
Shamshyan reports that the Honda was registered to the Murazyan Hospital complex of the Yerevan State Medical University, and Dr. Mary Khachatryan, a doctor from that hospital, was on her way to transport a newborn from the province to a medical center in Yerevan.
The vehicle's warning lights were activated when a frontal collision occurred between her car and the Toyota. The injured doctor refused medical assistance and, despite her injuries, proceeded to the newborn's location, intubated the infant on-site, and later transported the child in another ambulance to the Murazyan Medical Center. Afterward, Dr. M. Khachatryan was taken to the hospital.
