Iran Issues Protest Note to Russia
The chargé d'affaires of Russia was summoned to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran, where a relevant note was handed over. This information was reported by the IRNA agency.
"The Russian diplomat was called in on Saturday evening by the assistant director of the Persian Gulf Department of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran expressed a decisive protest against the unfounded claims contained in the statement of the sixth conference of Russian-Arab cooperation recently held in Morocco. A letter of protest has been sent to the Russian side," stated officials from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Tehran has expressed discontent with the inclusion of the names of Abu Musa, Lesser Tunb, and Greater Tunb islands in the statement of the sixth council of Russian-Arab cooperation held in Morocco. Iran claims these islands in the Persian Gulf belong to it.
