VIDEO: Taxi Driver Transfers Nearly 9 Million Drams from Sleeping Passenger's Bank Account

On December 11, a foreign citizen filed a report at the Vagharshapat police department. A taxi driver operating a Nissan vehicle had transported this individual from G. Kochary street in Yerevan to their residence on Patkanian street in Echmiadzin in the early hours of December 8.

During the journey, taking advantage of the passenger's impaired state and their sleeping condition, the driver seized the passenger's mobile phone and transferred nearly 9 million drams to his own bank account.

Thanks to operational investigative measures, the police identified the taxi driver, a 33-year-old man from Echmiadzin. He was summoned to the police department, where he confessed to the crime. After his confession, he was arrested and taken to the Vagharshapat investigation department with the relevant documentation.

Reportedly, efforts are underway to recover the stolen funds.
