VIDEO: We Do Not Separate, Says Prime Minister Regarding Syunik
“In the last 5 years, we have made the largest investments in Syunik.” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, addressing the government's implemented programs, stated that the government is carrying out multi-billion dollar projects throughout the republic, particularly in Syunik.
The Prime Minister noted that over 100 billion AMD have been invested there. “The Armenia-Iran border checkpoint in Meghri is being reconstructed. With the support of the EU, we are creating a modern customs checkpoint there, which will be a significant boost for job creation. Recently, we signed a contract, according to which the construction of the Agarak-Kajaran section of the North-South highway will soon begin.”
Nikol Pashinyan sees a trend where Syunik or Meghri is portrayed as a security-sensitive zone. “But no, we do not separate, and the security and development of Syunik Province is part of our daily work. Of course, the security issues we face exist in Tavush, Gegharkunik, and Ararat Provinces as well. These security issues are real and evident, but they should not be underestimated or overestimated. That is precisely why we have adopted a peace agenda to address these security issues.”
