Pashinyan on the Fifth Column
The Fifth Column no longer exists in the Armenian Armed Forces. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a live broadcast while answering questions from citizens.
A citizen asked, "Did we lose the 44-day war because there was a Fifth Column in the army, and has the Armenian government managed to get rid of it?" In response, Pashinyan noted, "I can say that there is no more Fifth Column in the ranks of the Armenian Armed Forces today."
When it was pointed out that it is possible the Fifth Column could also operate within the Armenian government, Pashinyan said, "There is no deep state in Armenia. Mostly, our system of state governance has progress in terms of considering our own state as the highest value and not undermining our own state interests in favor of the political agendas of other countries."
