Israeli Ambassador in the U.S. Expresses Hope for Release of 'Significant Number' of Hostages Soon
Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Herzog expressed hope in an interview with ABC that Hamas will soon release a "significant number of hostages."
"I hope we can conclude a deal in the coming days," Herzog said.
Hamas captured around 240 hostages during its attack on Israel on October 7. Qatari mediators are striving to reach an agreement between Israel and Hamas regarding the exchange of dozens of hostages for a temporary ceasefire lasting several days. According to media reports, the broad outlines have been agreed upon, but Israel continues to discuss the details.
The Israeli government is under growing pressure from the families of the hostages, who are demanding their immediate release.
