VIDEO: This Confirms the Status of Refugees for Those Displaced from Artsakh, Says Pashinyan
During the upcoming session of the Armenian government, a decision will be adopted granting temporary protection status to those forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. This statement was made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a Q&A session with the National Assembly regarding the government.
“This will provide them with the opportunity to protect all their rights. The essence of the decision is that we confirm the status of our compatriots displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh as refugees, in order to expand their rights to protection both locally and internationally,” said Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister emphasized that following the adoption of this decision, compatriots forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh will be able to apply for Armenian citizenship. “We will solve these issues as quickly as possible,” Pashinyan assured.
He noted that this will be confirmed by a governmental decision, rather than a law, because, in his view, the duration for passing a law is longer than that for a governmental decision. For this reason, he believes that they have utilized and will continue to utilize governmental decisions that address these issues at least in the short term.
