Salome Zourabichvili on Resigning from Presidential Position
The President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, has announced that she does not intend to resign following a decision from the Constitutional Court.
The Georgian Constitutional Court concluded that President Zourabichvili violated the law by opposing the government's ban and conducting foreign trips, which opens the door for an impeachment process against her.
“I want to tell you that I am not going anywhere, I am not resigning,” declared Zourabichvili, adding that she has fought for democratic values.
“Today, they tried to kill the European future in one shot, and democracy,” she stated in response to the court’s ruling.
