US Air Force Drone Approaches Russian Border

A Russian Su-27 fighter jet prevented a US Air Force RQ-4B Global Hawk reconnaissance drone from violating the state border of the Russian Federation over the Black Sea, reported the Russian Ministry of Defense, according to TASS.

On October 15, Russian airspace control measures in the Black Sea region detected an aerial target approaching the state border of the Russian Federation. To prevent a violation of the state border, the Su-27 from air defense duty forces was scrambled, the ministry clarified.

"The crew of the Russian fighter identified the aerial target as the US Air Force RQ-4B Global Hawk reconnaissance drone. As the Russian fighter approached, the foreign reconnaissance drone made a turn away from the state border of Russia. The Su-27 aircraft successfully returned to its deployment airport, and there was no violation of the state border," reported the Russian Ministry of Defense.
