Great Britain Calls on Israel to Exercise Restraint During Gaza Operations

Great Britain has called on Israel to exercise restraint during its operations in the Gaza Strip. This was announced by British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly in an interview with Sky News. His remarks were quoted by RIA Novosti.

“I have stated that it is in Israel's interest to avoid civilian casualties and losses among Palestinians, because Hamas is clearly wanting to turn this into a larger Arab-Israeli war or an actual war between Muslims and the rest of the world. None of us, including Israel, want that to happen, which is why we are strongly advising that as a friend,” Cleverly’s words were quoted by the channel.

Cleverly also stated that it is “extremely difficult” for Great Britain to reach an agreement with Egypt regarding the opening of a crossing point on the border between Egypt and Gaza for the evacuation of its citizens. At the same time, he refused to specify exact timelines for when this crossing point might be opened for people to leave the Gaza Strip.
