Syria Blames Israel for Palestinian Massacres and Airport Bombings
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has accused Israel of seeking to escalate the situation in the Middle East following airstrikes on the airports in Damascus and Aleppo. The statement from the Arab Republic's foreign ministry is cited by the Syrian state news agency SANA.
"This aggressive attack falls within the context of the continuing attempts by the occupying (Israeli) authorities to extend the crisis, escalate the situation in the region, and divert attention from war crimes and crimes against humanity, as well as the massacres they are committing against innocent Palestinians in Gaza," the statement reads.
It is worth noting that earlier reports indicated that Israel had struck the airports in Damascus and Aleppo, damaging the runways and rendering both airports inoperable.
