Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Comments on Ruben Vardanyan's Arrest
The comments relate primarily to citizens of Armenia or those who voluntarily renounced their Russian citizenship. This is how Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin responded to a question from RBK regarding whether Moscow has a stance on the arrest of specific individuals by Azerbaijani authorities, particularly Ruben Vardanyan, the former Prime Minister of Artsakh, and whether it is prepared to take any actions concerning him.
“In general terms, I can say that this concerns primarily citizens of Armenia or those who voluntarily renounced their Russian citizenship. Therefore, these issues should be resolved primarily between Armenia, whose citizens these individuals are, and the authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” he stated.
“I would like to draw your attention to an important aspect that I have not mentioned. This aspect is that at some point, official Yerevan began to state that it has no connection to the fate of the Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh and that all related issues should be resolved through dialogue between representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians and the Azerbaijani authorities. Unfortunately, this has also been the case. I emphasize this point,” he added.
