35 Israeli Soldiers and an Israeli General Captured
Reports indicate that 35 Israeli soldiers have been captured by Palestinian militants, who also claim to have taken an Israeli general as a prisoner. It is noted that he was taken semi-naked to Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has convened an emergency meeting with security force leaders. He asserts that today’s early morning attack launched by the Hamas group on Israel’s southern regions will receive an unprecedentedly harsh response.
“This is a war and we will win this war,” said the Israeli Prime Minister, stating that “the enemy will pay an unprecedented high price for this attack.”
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant had previously remarked that the Hamas terrorist organization made a “serious mistake” by suddenly launching an attack on Israel. “The state of Israel will win in this war,” he added.
It should be recalled that the bombardment from Gaza towards Israel began in the morning. Within the first 20 minutes of the operation, 5,000 rockets and shells were fired towards Israel. According to reports, around 200 people have been injured as a result of the rocket attacks from Gaza, and another 20 have been killed.
