Germany is Committed to Establishing Stable Peace Between Armenia and Azerbaijan: Scholz
The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, held a telephone conversation with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, during which he stated the unacceptability of using military force. This was reported by Christiane Hofmann, a spokesperson for the German government.
“Chancellor Scholz had a phone call today with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. He emphasized that the German government is firmly committed to establishing stable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, based on the principle of territorial integrity of both countries, and to resolving the situation through peaceful negotiations,” she said.
According to Hofmann, the efforts of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, enjoy the full support of the federal government. “The Chancellor highlighted the importance of maximum transparency regarding the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and its developments,” Hofmann added.
She asserted that Scholz indicated that the visit of the UN mission to Nagorno-Karabakh on October 1 is a positive step that should be further developed.
