US Monitoring Situation Surrounding Ruben Vardanyan's Arrest, State Department Says
The United States is closely monitoring the situation regarding the arrest of Ruben Vardanyan, the former Minister of State of Artsakh. This was stated by Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, during a press briefing.
“We are aware of the arrest and are closely following the situation. I have no further comments today,” the spokesperson said.
It was reported yesterday that the former minister was arrested while attempting to leave Artsakh. Subsequently, the State Security Service of Azerbaijan confirmed the news of Vardanyan’s arrest. It has been reported that he has been transferred to Baku.
