Babayan's Statement Puts Those on Azerbaijan's 'Blacklist' at Risk: Abrahamyan
Samvel Babayan's announcement about moving to Armenia without obstacles has put other people in Artsakh, especially those who are in Azerbaijan's spotlight, at risk. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the ‘We Have Honor’ faction in the National Assembly, during a conversation with reporters regarding Babayan's statement about moving to Armenia.
“Babayan’s statement has endangered those who were likely on Azerbaijan’s ‘blacklists,’ and it is no coincidence that after this statement, there are already numerous reports about stricter checks on various individuals' vehicles,” Abrahamyan said, noting that there is particular attention to certain specific vehicles. He added that he would not disclose further details as he considers it dangerous.
“Since yesterday, the Azerbaijani side has been taking certain measures, and this is not limited to the situation with Ruben Vardanyan. As for Ruben Vardanyan, the arrest of any Armenian by Azerbaijan, regardless of their political stance, is not only extremely concerning but also should drive all of us to more active actions with international organizations and various key players. Because if this is not prevented, if additional pressure is not applied on Azerbaijan, this will lead to more arrests,” Abrahamyan emphasized.
It should be recalled that yesterday, Samvel Babayan announced that he had moved to Armenia from Artsakh without obstacles. Moreover, today, Azerbaijan's State Security Service announced the arrest of former Artsakh Prime Minister Ruben Vardanyan.
