18-Year-Old Arthur Poghosyan from Ararat's Nshavan Village Killed in Explosion After 7 Months of Service
18-year-old Arthur Poghosyan, who was killed during engineering works yesterday, was from the Nshavan village in the Ararat region and had served for 7 months.
In a conversation with News.am, Arthur's classmate mentioned that Arthur was the eldest in his family and had a younger brother and sister, and his father is a police officer. “Arthur wanted to enroll in the police academy but needed a military service record for that. He said, 'I’ll go, serve, and then apply.' Arthur was drafted into the army on January 23 of this year, and he was very satisfied with his service, having joined together with a close friend. We spoke with him yesterday; he wrote that he would be moving to his friend's unit in a few days, and he was very happy,” the classmate shared.
He also noted that Arthur was loved by everyone and was the joy of the class. “In class, he was on one side, and the rest of us were on the other; he was very reserved and well-mannered, and everyone liked him very much.”
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia reported yesterday that on September 2 at approximately 5:30 PM, during engineering works (explosive works for road construction), an explosion occurred resulting in the deaths of a soldier from the Ministry of Defense, Major Arman Rubiki Babajanyan, and soldier Arthur Hayki Poghosyan.
