"Nothing Will Change by Force": Iran's Ambassador in Armenia on Baku's Plans to Alter Borders
We support Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and we are against any changes to borders, said Mehdi Sohbani, Iran's Ambassador to Armenia, in an interview with NEWS.am.
"We support Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity just as we recognize the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries. We are not opposed to the opening of communication routes; we have also provided such routes to Azerbaijan. However, all communication routes must be under the control of the countries where they are located, especially in the case of Armenia," the ambassador stated.
When asked what Iran would do if Azerbaijan attempted to forcibly open the so-called Zangezur corridor, and what assistance it could provide to Armenia, Sohbani replied, "As I said, we support the opening of communication routes, but they must be under the control of the Armenian government. Nothing will change by force."
"When I say Iran will support Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, everything becomes clear," he added.
