Video: "I Just Want to Get My Child's Body and Bury Her": Mother of Helen from Artsakh

The mother of 21-year-old Helen Dadayan, who died in a tragic car accident on the Gyumri-Yerevan road, is at the Red Cross office in Artsakh demanding the return of her daughter's body to their homeland. Family members are also present.

“I was not accepted to submit a written application. There is no written document regarding their refusal. I demand that they provide me with a written explanation as to why my application was denied. I am a mother; I just want to receive my child’s body and bury her. I have no other demands,” the mother stated.

In response to questions from journalists about when Helen left for Armenia, she replied that it was on August 31, 2022. Since then, they have only communicated through phone calls.

“Helen would call me every day and say, ‘Mom, stay calm, everything will be fine,’” the mother recounted.

After the mother's demands, relatives of Helen's family stormed into the premises of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Currently, they have met with the head of the ICRC mission and the State Minister of Artsakh, Gurgen Nersisyan. Those gathered outside are waiting.

It should be reminded that on August 14, around 00:20, a passenger minibus carrying ‘Volkswagen’ collided with a ‘ZIL’ truck driven by 33-year-old H.P. in the administrative territory of Lanjik village. The accident resulted in 11 fatalities. The group was returning from Western Armenia.

One of the deceased is Helen Dadayan from Artsakh. Her parents are in Artsakh and wish to transfer their daughter's body for burial.
