Will Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia Close Their Borders with Belarus?
Official Warsaw, Vilnius, and Riga are discussing the possibility of a collective decision to fully close the borders with Belarus. This statement was made by Lithuania's Minister of Internal Affairs Agnė Bilotaitė.
“Preparations for the scheme of closing the borders are ongoing at a technical level,” she announced.
The Baltic states and Poland have been discussing plans to close the borders with Belarus for more than a month. Warsaw is particularly inclined towards a more radical approach. The border closure issue will be discussed on August 28, at the level of the countries' interior ministers.
