Belarus Responds Adequately to NATO Actions, Says Wolfovich
Some foreign political figures are still thinking in terms of the Cold War. With their provocative statements and thoughtless actions, they are trying in every way to escalate the situation. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Alexander Wolfovich, as reported by BELTA.
“You see how eagerly our neighbors are striving to implement the principles enshrined in the decisions of the recent NATO summit in Vilnius,” the Security Council Secretary said.
“They are even doing this prematurely to please their foreign coordinators. Once again, we hear imaginary threats from the east. Measures are being taken under such fictitious pretexts for the militarization of Poland and the Baltic states. Warsaw has expressed readiness to accept American tactical nuclear warheads on its territory. Modern weapons are being procured,” he said.
Wolfovich added that the formation of the 1st mechanized division continues within the Polish army, which will be stationed near Belarus's western borders. Exploiting the presence of the Wagner PMC in Belarus, Poland has deployed two reinforced mechanized battalions in border areas. Lithuania also plans to increase its military contingent. Recently, Vilnius announced the extension of the presence of American units in its territory until 2025. Over the past two months, more than 10 exercises involving NATO troops have been conducted in Lithuania and Latvia. All of this undoubtedly exacerbates the military-political situation in the region.
“In this context, we are indeed studying the experiences of conducting a special military operation in Ukraine. We are working with the instructors of the Wagner PMC on modern combat tactics. And we do not hide this. Everything is being done solely for defensive purposes. The same applies to the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus,” said Alexander Wolfovich.
“In general, I can confidently say that all our predictions regarding the activities of the NATO bloc and its individual members have been fully confirmed. Of course, we are not sitting idly by; we are taking measures for an adequate response,” the official concluded.
