In Niger, Son of Ambassador Who Did Not Recognize Rebels' Authority Arrested
The son of the French ambassador to Niger, Aichata Boulamah Kaina, Idrissa Keïna, has been arrested in Niamey on charges of embezzling state funds. This was reported by AFP, citing the diplomat.
His case has been transferred to the High Authority for the Fight Against Corruption and Similar Offenses, according to the agency. The exact reason for the arrest is not yet known.
It is worth recalling that on the night of July 27, Nigerien military announced the ouster of President Mohamed Bazoum and the transfer of power to the "National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland," as well as the closing of borders, suspension of the constitution, and a ban on the activities of any political parties.
