Borel's Statement Causes Regret, Says Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry
Baku highly appreciates the European Union's support for establishing peace and stability in the region and the negotiations concerning the peace process with Armenia; however, the statement from Borel causes regret.
This was stated by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. The Ministry responded to the comments made by Josep Borel, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, regarding the responsibility of the Azerbaijani authorities to ensure security and free movement through the Lachin corridor, emphasizing that Baku's willingness to facilitate the transport of goods via Aghdam (Aknar) should not be seen as an alternative to the reopening of the Lachin corridor.
Baku values the EU's support in establishing peace and stability in the region and the negotiations surrounding the peace process with Armenia. However, the approach of Josep Borel, based on what Azerbaijan describes as the Armenian side's “false propaganda and political manipulation,” has raised concerns regarding the situation in the region as expressed in his July 26 statement,
