Russia and China to Conduct Joint Naval Exercises in the Sea of Japan

Russia and China will conduct joint naval exercises in the Sea of Japan, named 'North/Interaction-2023', according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense. The Pacific Fleet's ships have set sail from Vladivostok.

Russia will showcase the major anti-submarine corvettes 'Admiral Tributs', 'Admiral Panteleev', 'Gremyashchiy', and 'Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov' during the exercises. The operations will be led by Vice Admiral Valery Kazakov, commander of the Primorsky Fleet of the Pacific Fleet, as reported by Interfax, referencing the Russian Ministry of Defense's announcement.

A few days ago, four warships and one supply ship from the Chinese navy set sail from the port of Qingdao. Beijing intends to employ aviation in the exercises. China has stated that the objective of the drills is to enhance the level of strategic cooperation between the two militaries and improve their capabilities to jointly maintain regional peace and stability and respond to various security challenges.
