Georgia to Construct Bypass Road Along Border with Russia

Georgia plans to construct a 5-kilometer bypass road leading to the border with Russia, as the existing road is in poor condition and does not meet international standards. This was announced by the head of the Georgia Road Department, Giorgi Tsereteli, in an interview with the Imedi TV channel.

The project concerns a five-kilometer section of the Stepantsminda–Gveli road. The Georgia Road Department has already announced a tender for the construction. The new road will be an extension of the Arsha–Stepantsminda bypass road and will be one of the key sections of the new highway. This road will allow access to the village of Kobi without entering Stepantsminda.

According to the project, which is valued at 245 million lari, the construction company is required to build two overpasses measuring 2,018 meters and 636 meters, as well as to excavate two tunnels with lengths of 460 meters and 846 meters.
