Tigran Abrahamyan Questions Charles Michel's Reference to 'Wrongly Crossed' Soldiers
Armenian National Assembly 'I Have Honor' faction secretary Tigran Abrahamyan wrote: ‘The President of the European Council, Michel, proudly declared that at the tripartite meeting in the format of EU-Armenia-Azerbaijan, issues concerning prisoners and soldiers who have 'wrongly crossed' to the other side were discussed. If we consider the fact that in the last two months, there has been active discussion regarding the incursion of two Azerbaijani servicemen from Nakhichevan and the abduction of two Armenian servicemen from the Shrašen-Shikahogh sector, what is this about?
Does Michel, by mentioning 'wrongly crossed,' refer to the Azerbaijani servicemen who entered the territory of Armenia and killed peaceful civilians, or to the two Armenian servicemen who were sharing bread with their friends on their own land but were abducted by an Azerbaijani special forces group?
The unjust and unacceptable conduct of international actors is manifested not only towards Artsakh but also towards Armenia. The neglect that is visible in the Artsakh issue will similarly manifest and continue to manifest regarding Armenia, as long as Turkish power is established in Armenia.’
It is noteworthy that Charles Michel, President of the European Council, stated that the leaders reaffirmed the understanding that the soldiers who have accidentally crossed the border will have their issue resolved. ‘I urged that those detained on both sides be released,’ said Charles Michel.
