India to Attempt Moon Landing

India's space agency is set to launch a rocket this Friday that aims to land on the Moon. This was reported by Reuters.

If successful, India will become the fourth country in the world to send a device to the Moon and achieve a successful landing, following the United States, the former Soviet Union, and China. Earlier this year, Japan's attempt ended with the destruction of its spacecraft.

The Chandrayaan-3, built with a budget of less than $75 million, is scheduled to be launched from India's main spaceport at 14:35 local time. If all goes according to plan, the 43.5-meter LVM3 rocket will place the spacecraft into Earth's orbit, and it is expected to land on the Moon on August 23.
