Turkish Club Did Not Develop Logo Similar to Armenian Coat of Arms: FIP

On July 8, Turkish Aydınlık website reported that the club 'Diyarbakırspor,' playing in Turkey's second league, intended to change its name and logo. The Turkish source included an image of the new logo attributed to the club, which largely resembled the coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia.

This information circulated during the weekend in both Turkish media and the Armenian information space. Images of the new logo attributed to 'Diyarbakırspor' were actively shared within the Armenian-speaking sections of social media.

With reference to the Turkish press, the claim was reprinted on Monday, July 10, by several Armenian media outlets including News.am and BacTV.

The 'Fact-Checking Platform' has clarified that this information was denied by the 'Diyarbakırspor' club on the same day it was spread, namely July 8. The club published a clarification on its Facebook page, stating that carrying the current name and logo is a 'great honor' for them: 'It is very important for us to elevate this name and logo to higher leagues.'

Notably, Armenian media outlets reported on the news of the Turkish club's logo change on July 10, despite the fact that the club's management had already denied the news two days prior. Thus, the claim that 'Diyarbakırspor' has a new logo resembling the Armenian coat of arms is false.
