We Will Ensure the Transfer of Artsakh Students Admitted to Universities in Armenia or Abroad: Minister of Education and Science
For 207 days, Artsakh has been under blockade, and during this crisis, the educational system has also been targeted. For a long time, children were not attending school, but the issue has been resolved. Months later, students are expected to return to educational institutions.
MediaHub inquired with the Minister of Education and Science of Artsakh, Norair Mkrtchyan, about the current state of the educational sector in the Armenian Second Republic and how the ministry will operate should the blockade continue until September.
“Classes in schools and universities will commence on September 1, and we will address all obstacles. We hope that the graduates who have been admitted to universities in Armenia or abroad will not face challenges in transferring; we will ensure their relocation,” he said.
According to Mkrtchyan, efforts will also be made for students who have completed their studies in Armenia or abroad and wish to return to Artsakh. “Our graduates are still in Stepanakert, we are conducting the unified examinations in a second phase, which will conclude on the 9th, after which we will have a final list by the 15th,” he noted.
When asked how the normal course of classes will be regulated in the absence of gas and electricity, he responded: “I believe that these issues should not hinder the educational process.”
