Vardevanyan Apologizes for Ghazaryan's Remarks and Clarifies Connection to Nairi Insurance

During the discussion of the vice-presidential election in the National Assembly, Aram Vardevanyan, the candidate from the "Strong Armenia" faction, addressed the previous remarks made by his colleague Edgar Ghazaryan regarding Armenian sappers and reiterated his apology for those comments.

Responding to the observation of MP Arayik Harutyunyan that his previous apology was conditional, Vardevanyan stated, "I apologize to all our compatriots who heard your comment for the expression you quoted regarding Armenian sappers." He emphasized that he has no issues apologizing if it pertains to the offense of his compatriots.

"I will say again: I apologize for the wording concerning Armenian sappers that was published from this hall, on behalf of Edgar Ghazaryan," he noted.

During the discussion, Vardevanyan also clarified issues related to his professional activities, addressing his connection with the Nairi Insurance company. According to him, he was appointed as a member of the company’s board at the recommendation of Vahagn Khachaturyan, one of the major shareholders, by the decision of the Central Bank chairman. Vardevanyan pointed out that he held the status of an independent member and left the board after starting his political activities.
