The President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Ruben Rubinyan, had a phone conversation with Valentina Matviyenko, the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to the agenda of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Armenia and Russia, emphasizing the importance of the continuity of parliamentary dialogue and cooperation on matters of mutual interest.

They also addressed several issues regarding the current phase of bilateral relations between Armenia and Russia. Rubinyan pointed out that the unwarranted restrictions on the export of Armenian goods to the Russian market are concerning and highlighted the need to resolve the issue within the framework of the existing legal agreements between the two countries and the regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The agenda of relations between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union was also discussed. Rubinyan noted that the anticipated referendum regarding Armenia's membership in the European Union, expected by Russia, could only become practically feasible after Armenia officially applies for EU membership and the process reaches a substantive phase.
