VIDEO: "No ally will come to ensure the security of Artsakh instead of us," Ohanyan

"The 'Hayakve' initiative can never be a threat of war. The agendas of today's authorities are false and distract the public. I call on our citizens to join this initiative," said Seyran Ohanyan, a member of the 'Armenia' parliamentary faction, in a conversation with journalists after participating in the signature campaign of 'Hayakve'. He referred to comments made by some lawmakers from the ruling party.

It should be noted that ruling party MP Gevorg Papoyan wrote on his page: "Why doesn’t the parliamentary opposition directly present the bill to criminalize the recognition of 'Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan'? The answer is very simple: the moment such a bill is adopted, Azerbaijan will launch a large-scale military aggression against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, with all the consequences that follow."

He added, "Thus, the parliamentary opposition is trying to shift the responsibility for a new war onto the people. The opposition needs a new war for a very simple reason: only then, at the cost of heavy human and territorial losses for Armenia, can they come to power; they simply have no other option. Therefore, 'Hayakve' has only one political consequence: it will untie Azerbaijan’s hands for yet another military aggression, and whoever signs that document indirectly provides Azerbaijan with a reason to declare war on Armenia and Artsakh. I hope that those who sign the project and their sons (God forbid) will be the first to go to the front lines and defend the homeland during the next Azerbaijani aggression, and they will not evade one-month mobilizations under various pretexts."
