Jake Sullivan's Remarks on Meeting with Mirzoyan and Bayramov
The U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan made a statement on Twitter following a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on June 28.
“I was pleased to host Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at the White House. I urged both Armenia and Azerbaijan to continue making progress toward peace and to avoid provocations and reduce tensions to build trust,” Sullivan stated in his post.
It should be noted that from June 27-29, Washington is hosting another round of Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations, mediated by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, Matthew Miller, had earlier stated that the United States encourages the efforts of Armenia and Azerbaijan to effectively participate in the peace process and will continue to support that endeavor.
