Video: What if those 1300 teachers don't pass the certification? Agazaryan
The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan, presented a draft amendment to the "Law on General Education" at the National Assembly. According to her, 12 years ago a requirement was established for teachers to hold mandatory higher education, giving them time to acquire it.
"Many teachers have taken this path, but studies show that there are still over 1300 teachers in the system who have secondary vocational education and continue to work. These individuals will no longer be able to work in schools starting from August 20," the minister stated, adding that they have been given the opportunity to participate in a voluntary certification process. If they score 60 percent or more, they will be allowed to continue their activities.
Kyank member of parliament Hovik Agazaryan asked Zhanna Andreasyan, noting, "But what if those 1300 teachers don't pass the certification? Will you be able to fill their positions?" For more details, watch the video.
