Death Toll from Alcohol Poisoning in Iran Reaches 171
A mass poisoning incident has been reported in the Alborz province of northern Iran. According to RIA Novosti, citing the IRNA news agency, the number of individuals poisoned by methanol-containing alcohol has reached 171 in the last five days, according to Shahram Sayadi, the dean of the provincial medical university.
Six individuals have been arrested in connection with the distribution of methanol alcohol. The investigation has revealed that the producers of this liquor acquired contaminated technical alcohol from a body spray manufacturing facility, where authorities confiscated 6,500 liters of alcohol. The production at the factory has been halted.
