VIDEO: "I Am Still Alive" - Pope's Response to Journalist's Question
Pope Francis has been discharged from the Agostino Gemelli Hospital in Rome following abdominal surgery. The media captured the moment when the leader of the Catholic Church entered the city-state in a papal "Fiat," sitting next to the driver.
Before entering the Vatican, Pope Francis briefly exited the vehicle to greet the law enforcement officials accompanying him on his way out of the hospital.
"I am still alive," Pope Francis responded when asked how he was feeling.
On his way to the Vatican, the pope made a brief stop at the Santa Maria Maggiore Roman Basilica.
It is noteworthy that Pope Francis underwent abdominal surgery on June 7. The doctors performed a laparotomy (an incision in the abdominal cavity) and a surgery for the prosthetic repair of the abdominal wall. According to the Holy See's information, the surgery went smoothly and lasted three hours.
