This is Against Armenian-Russian Relations: Robert Ghukasian on Azerbaijan's Provocation
The shelling of Armenian positions near Kapan is aimed at Armenian-Russian relations. This statement was made by Syunik Governor Robert Ghukasian during a meeting with a Russian delegation, as reported by Sputnik Armenia.
“Yesterday, Azerbaijani drones opened fire on Armenian positions near Kapan. I believe this is targeted against Armenian-Russian relations and against Russia itself, because the mere fact that such a large delegation is currently in the region, in this city, means they should have understood and not allowed this to happen,” noted the governor.
He added that they are well aware of the aim behind these actions - to prevent close ties between Armenia and Russia. The governor emphasized that, fortunately, there are no casualties; only one serviceman has been injured near Tegh.
According to him, the situation has calmed down at this moment. “They wanted to strike our relations. But you know well about Syunik and how people here regard the Russian Federation and value the preservation of these ties,” the governor stated in discussions with senior Russian officials.
Ghukasian added that Armenian-Russian relations should be at the highest level. He promised that they would do everything in their power to ensure that future generations have even closer ties than today.
